Trigger Happy Interpretation

What kind of thoughts are passing through our minds when we decide to play the well known “Russian roulette”? Is it madness, or is it for the exhilaration? The poem “Trigger Happy”, by Arran Saul indefinitely expresses the ideas behind this madness. The author portrays games as well known for taking risks and excitement, “Ya wanna find excitement? Ya wanna make a deal?” is suggesting “Russian roulette” may be like a game, fun and risky, this may reflect an analogy. Adrenalin is very common when people become nervous, “Your heart is beating wildly, all you want’s a little peace” when we become nervous and reach the climactic point we soon seek some form of relaxation. “Hear the click of Heaven’s gates” is a great metaphor and opens up the possibility of death upon the main character in this poem however “You find your sanctuary is a place you’ve always been” leaves one wondering if death actually did occur. As we all know when you play “Russian roulette you put one bullet in a gun, spin the wheel, hold the gun up to your head, “Your temple’s marriage to the steel”, pull the trigger, and hope you get lucky and the bullet is not in place. The outcome is not death but an epiphany, with the blink of an eye, “the darkness closes in” nothing but a flinch and realizing that being alive is where the character is happy. Life lessons may sometimes be scary, however sometimes they are for the better.

Is there really a sentence appropriate for Mr. Harvey? The death sentence would be the most realistic, and there are also many reasons why Mr. Harvey should be put through this. The family’s he has seamlessly taken apart, disgusting behavior including rape and murder are unforgivable. There are things you can’t give back and one of those things is a life. Not only did George Harvey act in such a matter towards human beings but also the four legged creatures we call pets. Remnants of neighborhood cats, and dogs have been found inside the home of Mr. Harvey. Suspected suspicion , of peering into neighboring homes, watching the young children, and his dollhouse collection may appeal to younger kids more and more. Time and time again men and women in society are put up to one another, and George Harvey can obviously not be trusted. This is why the death sentence will remove him from our every day lives and begin decreasing the chance of future offenders.
